According to information from The Wall Street Journal, Google is reportedly experimenting and researching an online gaming service directly on the YouTube platform called “Playables”. With this new feature, users will be able to play games online directly on both the website and app versions of YouTube, available for both Android and iOS operating systems. The report states that Google has invited company employees to test YouTube’s new product called “Playables”. Currently, “Playables” only has one game called Stack Bounce, an arcade game where the goal is to break horizontal blocks using a ball.
Other game titles will be added in the future and can be played on YouTube’s website and app versions on Android and iOS. A YouTube spokesperson has shared that the company is testing this feature and currently does not have any specific information to announce. As you may know, YouTube is a platform primarily used for creators to live stream and share gaming videos. The mentioned new feature is part of YouTube CEO Neal Mohan’s efforts to develop the platform, as advertising revenue has been declining.
